When interacting with your website or product – other than your brand and visual design – one of the first things your users will notice is the navigation and how the information and services available are presented. Badly sorted and presented navigation can leave your users feeling frustrated and can often lead to them giving up entirely and seeking the information or service elsewhere, pushing them directly to one of your competitors.
Creating the architecture of your website or product can be performed in a number of ways this could be completed as part of a design thinking workshop, user research, or competitor analysis. While this isn't something the user will necessarily be visible to your users it is an important step and the backbone of well designed systems.
